Wiring System Diagram

A distribution box wiring system connects the main power supply to multiple circuits using MCBs, RCCBs, bus bars, and proper neutral and earth connections to ensure safe electricity distribution.

Components of a Distribution Box

• Main MCB (Double Pole): Acts as the main switch controlling the entire supply. It receives the incoming phase and neutral wires and distributes power to the rest of the board .
• RCCB/RCD (Residual Current Device): Provides protection against leakage currents and electric shocks. It is connected after the main MCB and before the output MCBs .
• Single Pole MCBs: Protect individual circuits and appliances. They are connected to the output of the RCCB .
• Bus Bars: Include neutral and earth bars to distribute neutral and grounding connections to all circuits .
• Wires: Phase (live), neutral, and earth wires connect the main supply, protective devices, and load circuits. Color coding is used to identify each type of wire .

Single-Phase Distribution Box Wiring

1. Connect the incoming phase and neutral from the energy meter to the Main DP MCB.
2. Connect the output of the Main MCB to the input of the RCCB.
3. From the RCCB output, connect phase wires to the input of SP MCBs for individual circuits.
4. Connect neutral wires from the RCCB output to the neutral bus bar, which then distributes to all SP MCBs.
5. Connect earth wires from the supply and loads to the earth bus bar .

Three-Phase Distribution Box Wiring

1. Identify the three incoming phases (L1, L2, L3), neutral (N), and earth (E).
2. Connect each phase to the main switch or MCB corresponding to that phase.
3. Connect the neutral wire to the neutral bus bar and earth wire to the earth bus bar.
4. Distribute each phase to individual circuit breakers for balanced load distribution.
5. Label each phase and circuit clearly to avoid confusion during maintenance .

Safety and Best Practices

• Always turn off the main power supply before working on the distribution box .
• Use properly rated MCBs and RCCBs according to the load requirements.
• Ensure correct color coding for phase, neutral, and earth wires.
• Maintain clear labeling for all circuits to simplify troubleshooting and maintenance .
