Their work ensures minimal signal loss, proper network organization, and long-term reliability.

Key Responsibilities

1. Installation and Routing Operators identify optical cross-connects, server rooms, and splitters, then patch from the splitter port to the user's fiber cable port following work orders . Proper routing requires maintaining a minimum bend radius (typically 400mm) and avoiding twists or excessive loops . Patch cables should be neatly arranged inside Optical Distribution Frames (ODFs) and not left hanging or routed externally . 2. Connector Handling Operators work with various connector types:

• LC, SC, FC, ST connectors depending on equipment and application .
• Ensure connectors are clean using lint-free pads, isopropyl alcohol, or fiber cleaning kits to prevent signal degradation .
• Match connector polish types (PC, UPC, APC) to minimize back reflection and insertion loss . 3. Cable Management Operators manage patch cord lengths, typically allowing a small surplus (no more than 500mm), and avoid connecting two patch cables with unauthorized flanges .
